HOUSTON, TX – May 23, 2007 –The 2007-2008 Senior Guidance Directory—the Greater Houstonarea’s most comprehensive and accurate information resource for individuals 50+, their families and caregivers—12th annual edition will be available starting June 1 at all Houston-area Walgreens Pharmacies.  The Directory—presented in an easy-to-read, user-friendly format—includes contact information and helpful explanations about local and national resources and services vital to older adults. Topics include housing, transportation, home health care, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, local recreational activities and dozens more. The new edition includes statewide services, which details how and where to get individualized services for seniors in other Texas cities and regions.

With the cooperation of its community partners— Isla Carroll Turner Friendship Trust,  Care  for Elders, Cameo Caregivers, Walgreens, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System and Home Instead Senior Care—Senior Guidance Directory, Inc., a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, publishes this annual resource to educate and empower seniors and their families to make better and more informed choices which can change their lives.  This Houston-based nonprofit distributes the Senior Guidance Directory free of charge, at more than 200 Walgreens Pharmacies throughout the Houston area.  For those individuals who have out-of-town family members or caregivers, the Directory is also available online at www.srguidance.org.

In addition, the Directory is used daily by hundreds of government, social and charitable organizations who provide assistance and information to Houston’s older population. Through this citywide distribution to eldercare professionals, who often refer to the Directoryas “the bible of the industry”, the Senior Guidance Directory positively impacts hundreds of thousands of lives each year.
